After about a full month of waiting, the Red Dead Online Beta is finally here! Yes, that’s right, we are now able to access Red Dead Redemption 2 Online Multiplayer. This is a feature that players have been anticipating ever since the game’s official announcement. In fact, there are some fans who are only interested in the online multiplayer mode and bought it for that.
As such, we are happy to announce that the Red Dead Redemption 2 Online Multiplayer mode is now available in the game. Unfortunately, you may have opened the game up to find that you don’t see it anywhere. Worse still, you might see the option (or patch notes) but you yourself are unable to access the online portion. This is where we come in with some help.
How to Access Red Dead Redemption 2 Online Multiplayer
As of this writing, the Red Dead Online Beta is currently available. In fact, we’ve been able to get into it ourselves just before publishing this post. So, what’s going on with your game? Well, first and foremost, you must have downloaded the latest update for the game on your platform of choice. On PS4, this latest update is version 1.03 and requires over 5GB in space.
Once you have done that, there is another prerequisite. To access the Red Dead Redemption 2 Online Multiplayer right now, you must have owned the Ultimate Edition. Fret not if you don’t have that version, as there is a staggered launch for the rest of the players. If you bought the physical version of the Ultimate Edition, be sure to redeem the codes inside for access.
However, if you own a different version, you will still get in this week. If you played on launch day (October 26), then you can jump in tomorrow, Wednesday, November 28. If you played from launch through October 29, you can get in on Thursday. All players will be let in this Friday. When you’re ready, boot up the game to the main menu. Use R1 or RB to switch to online and press X/A to play!
