If you don’t care for Red Dead Online’s more structured pursuits, there’s plenty to do in the free roam world. You can go on leisurely horseback rides with your friends, hunt, fish, or just kick back in a saloon. If, however, you crave more…exciting pursuits, you’ll want to seek out gang hideouts. There are a large number of different places that gang hideouts can spawn in the world. Fortunately for you, this guide lays out where exactly those spots are.
Red Dead Online Gang Hideout Locations
As we noted before, gang hideouts dynamically spawn in the free roam world. However, you usually can’t spot them on your map until you move quite close to their spawn location. This means you can’t just open your map and scan it for the distinct red skull gang hideout icons. Instead, you have to travel around and see if any hideouts spawn as you approach.
Here’s a compiled list of known gang hideout spawn locations:
- Cumberland Falls which is southwest of Valentine
- Fort Mercer which is east of Benedict Point
- Quaker Cove which is south of Blackwater
- Twin Rocks which is north of Armadillo
- The Loft which is west of Roanoke Valley
- Willard’s Rest which is way up in the northeastern quadrant of the map
- Bacchus Station which is north of Fort Wallace
- Clements Point which is west of Rhodes
- Hanging Dog Ranch which is north of Little Creek River
- Ewing Basin which is south of Lake Isabella
- Jorge’s Gap which is southwest of Armadillo
- Solomon’s Folly which is southwest of Benedict Point
Even though they’re a bit hard to find on a consistent basis, gang hideouts are well worth doing. You get some XP for killing the hideout’s local criminals and of course you can loot their bodies afterwards. You can also gain some positive honor by choosing the spare the hideout’s leader. Lastly, and most importantly, hideout leaders also sometimes offer (or drop if killed) treasure maps.
