Getting treasure maps can be done in a couple of ways. The first is pretty simple: looting enemy bodies. You have a random chance of finding treasure maps on the bodies of enemies you have killed in the world. However, the chances of this are slim so don’t count on it too much. Thankfully, though, we’ve noticed players skip looting bodies so you will sometimes have free rein during missions and such.

Another way is by taking out gang hideouts. You will find these red circles around the map occasionally. Defeating them and looting the area will sometimes result in some Red Dead Online treasure maps. However, there is still one more method of doing this and it’s far easier.

The last thing you can do is simply rank (or level) up online. At rank 10, you get your first treasure map. From then on, you get another treasure map every five ranks. These are easily forgotten about but are great for rewarding you early on in the game.
