The UK-based analytics company Ukie has uploaded sales statistics for the final week of 2018. Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 has taken the top spot, surprisingly absolutely no one I’m sure. Honorable mentions go to other big 2018 games such as Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.
Red Dead Redemption 2 Tops UK Sales Charts
According to Ukie’s data, RDR2, FIFA 19, and Black Ops 4 were the top three entries on the list. Those three games sold the highest number of copies during the week of December 23-29. Given how big all three of those games are, their placement in the top three is hardly surprising. Some other interesting tidbits of note include the following:
- Red Dead Redemption 2 remained in the number one spot pretty consistently throughout December. However, it was briefly bumped down to second place when Super Smash Bros. Ultimate launched early in the month.
- In late November, FIFA 19 was actually in first place followed by Black Ops 4 and RDR2.
- Since it launched in late October, Red Dead Redemption 2 never once fell out of the top three spots.
- In mid-December, Grand Theft Auto V managed to creep into the top 20 list. No doubt Red Dead Redemption 2’s popularity gave its older cousin a bit of a boost.
- Thanks to GTAV’s presence, Rockstar closed out 2018 with two games on the top 20 sales charts. This means Rockstar actually beat out some other publishers like Square Enix and Ubisoft (one game each).
- Fortnite’s Deep Freeze bundle finished in the number 12 spot, proving that the F2P game is still printing money.
- Battlefield 5 briefly surpassed Black Ops 4 in early December but otherwise couldn’t edge out its chief rival.
- Even with all the controversy surrounding it, Fallout 76 never fell below the top 20 following its launch. It did come close in early December, though, when it dropped from 11th place to 19th
Red Dead Redemption 2 will undoubtedly continue to dominate into 2019. For more on Rockstar’s epic western, be sure to read our exclusive interview with RDR2 voice actor Gabriel Sloyer. We also recently looked at RDR2’s 1.05 update patch notes.
