Considering how important your horse companion is, it’s odd that the game never explains how to get the Red Dead Redemption 2 horse brush. Unfortunately, you are left to your own accord to find one. This is especially annoying since your horse can get very dirty often. The brush is useful for cleaning up your horse so it’s good to go.
It doesn’t matter how early you are in the game, your horse will get dirty; it’s inevitable. Thankfully, it doesn’t take too long to get the Red Dead Redemption 2 horse brush. However, it will require you to actually proceed with the main story. If you’re anything like us, you can spend several hours just wandering around the open world.
How to Get the Red Dead Redemption 2 Horse Brush
This can be very bad because your horse is bound to get dirty. If you haven’t received the brush yet (more on that in a second), then one solution is running your horse through a river. To actually get the Red Dead Redemption 2 horse brush, you will need to complete a certain mission.
You are going to want to finish the main mission Exit Pursued by a Bruised Ego. Finishing this mission will grant you access to the brush. Using the brush is actually much easier than acquiring it. Simply hop off your horse companion and approach it like you are going to pat it.
Hold down the left trigger and select the command to brush it. This will clean your horse buddy up so they will be clean and happy. A dirty horse is not only unattractive; it affects the gameplay, too. That will prevent your horse’s core from being as healthy as possible, meaning it won’t recover as well as it would be if it were clean. Thankfully, a quick brush up will do the job nicely.
