Red Dead Redemption 2’s Poison Arrows are a surprisingly useful type of ammunition to have. As we noted in our clean kills hunting guide, Poison Arrows can kill most animals while preserving their pelts. They’re also mighty effective against human opponents since they can kill even if you miss a vital strike point. In this guide, we’ll outline all the steps required to add Poison Arrows to your arsenal.
Red Dead Redemption 2 Poison Arrows Recipe
Before you can craft Poison Arrows, you’ll have to first obtain the necessary recipe pamphlet. The recipe pamphlet is most likely found via the fence in Rhodes. If, however, the Rhodes fence doesn’t have it, other fences might. Don’t worry if you haven’t yet discovered the town of Rhodes. Just keep playing through Red Dead Redemption 2’s story and you’ll reach it eventually.
Poison Arrows Crafting Components
With the Poison Arrows recipe pamphlet in hand, you’ll need three ingredients to craft them. Two of the ingredients, standard arrows and feathers, are easy enough to come by. Standard arrows can be purchased from any general store or gunsmith. Feathers, meanwhile, are obtained by hunting any sort of bird.
The third necessary ingredient, the Oleander Plant, is a little harder to come by. You have to forage for it out in the wild, and the Oleander is sadly not the most common of plants. Reports say that a good spot to find Oleander is west of Saint Denis, across the river. Another good place to look is along the bank of the Kamassa River, east of Rhodes.
With all three ingredients found, simply open up the crafting menu and select the Poison Arrows option to craft them. The crafting menu can be accessed from any campfire or by holding down the Triangle/Y button (depending on your platform). Also, make sure to manually equip the Poison Arrows along with your bow.
