There are many animals to hunt down like the cougar and bison in RDR2. However, some of the most difficult animals to find in the game are the Red Dead Redemption 2 iguanas. Iguanas are certainly an animal you’re going to need to kill if you want 100 percent completion. Unfortunately, finding them is harder than actually killing them. This is for a number of reasons.
For one, a good portion of the game takes place in woodsy forest areas. Even when you aren’t there, you’re in bayous and snowy mountains. None of these locales play host to Red Dead Redemption 2 iguanas. This can make finding these little critters a challenging aspect. As such, we are going to give you the best spots for finding them.
Where to Hunt Red Dead Redemption 2 Iguanas
You can find iguanas in a couple of different areas. Early in the game, there is actually only one place that you can find them when you haven’t visited the desert of New Austin yet. Your only option is to head to the island by Flat Iron Lake. Of course, that is a limited spot so your best bet is to wait until later in the story.
There is a place in chapter five, specifically, that you can find some special iguanas. We won’t go into more details to avoid spoilers but don’t miss your chance while you’re there. Lastly, there is the state of New Austin to the far southwest. That is where the bulk of the desert is and where you will easily find these critters.
Actually killing the Red Dead Redemption 2 iguanas is pretty easy. What you are going to want to do for that perfect pelt is to equip the varmint rifle. That rifle will make it easier to get that perfect kill and perfect pelt.
