One of the fiercest beasts you can hunt down is the Red Dead Redemption 2 Legendary Cougar, in addition to others like the wolf and bison. This extremely overpowered version of the traditional cougar is worth finding and hunting. Both completionists and hunters will want to take out this critter if you’re wanting to complete your hunting collection. Unfortunately, like other legendary animals, there is only one of this cougar in the whole game.
As such, you are going to have to head to a very specific location if you’re looking to hunt the Red Dead Redemption 2 Legendary Cougar down. In this guide, we are going to go over where exactly that spot is on the RDR2 map. With such a massive open world, it can be easy to miss this one-of-a-kind creature during the game.
Where to Hunt the Red Dead Redemption 2 Legendary Cougar
You can find the Red Dead Redemption 2 Legendary Cougar in only one spot in the whole game. That spot is located in the state of New Austin, a location you most likely won’t visit (intentionally) until later on in the main story. If you’re looking to hunt it early on, you’ll have to take a really long walk to get there.
The exact spot for the creature is found just west of the town of Tumbleweed. Its exact location is right around the “gap” in Gaptooth Ridge on the in-game world map. This spot is pretty easy to find so arrive there, track it down, and get ready for the kill. Here are some tips for getting that legendary pelt.
We recommend using your best sniper rifle and aiming for a headshot right on the Red Dead Redemption 2 Legendary Cougar. This will most likely not kill it, though, so be prepared with ammo, arrows, and other weapons to finish it off before it finishes you.
