Red Dead Redemption 2’s online multiplayer component is coming later this month in public beta form. However, despite its impending release, we still know very little about the online mode, not even its exact release date. A few leaks have been popping up as of late, though, and they point to a robust online experience. If the leaks are accurate, Red Dead Online players can hunt, duel, race, and even purchase properties.
Red Dead Online Leaked Activity Information
The leaked information comes by way of Rockstar Intel. According to the input parameters Rockstar Intel obtained, players can perform a litany of gameplay and UI actions. Again, the information should be taken with a grain of salt for now, but here’s what the parameters point to:
- If another player kills you, you can parlay, challenge them to a duel, or even summon law enforcement.
- Players can hunt wild animals just like in Red Dead Redemption 2’s story mode.
- One parameter points to “predator abilities,” though it’s not clear if it relates to the hunting activity.
- Other parameters refer to racing, so expect horse races to be in Red Dead Online at launch.
A separate Rockstar Intel post also refers to the presence of property acquisition in Red Dead Online. Players can apparently purchase permanent residences where they can hang up their hat after a long day of cowboying. The presence of property acquisition isn’t surprising since it’s a major component of Grand Theft Auto Online. Along with horse racing, buying properties is another feature that’s apparently exclusive to Red Dead Online (for now).
Whether or not the above information is accurate, Red Dead Online will undoubtedly be an ambitious multiplayer experience. Here’s hoping PC players can get in on the action at some point. In the meantime, Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
