There are a number of optional side tasks and challenges to complete in Red Dead Redemption 2. One such challenge is called Herbalist and, as its name infers, it requires finding and harvesting 10 different plant types. One of the harder plant types to find is a little old flower called Yarrow. However, if you know where to look, your search for Yarrow can go much more smoothly.
Red Dead Redemption 2 Yarrow Plant Locations
First, there are some basic plant harvesting tips you should know. When you’re on-foot, your controller vibrates whenever you walk over a plant that can be harvested. This is handy when you’re just sprinting around outdoors and not even looking for plants beneath your feet. You can also use Eagle Eye to spot harvestable plants from afar. Once you find a plant, simply interact with it to add it to your inventory. Some plants, like carrots, can be eaten raw while others, like mint, can infuse other food types. Virtually all plants can be used in one way or another for crafting.
How to Find Yarrow Plants in Red Dead Redemption 2
As for Yarrow specifically, you want to keep an eye out for its distinct red leaves. Yarrow is most plentiful in dense forested areas such as those found in the Heartlands or Lemoyne regions. In fact, dense forests are where you’ll find an abundance of different plants, allowing you to advance your Herbalist challenge. In terms of crafting, Yarrow is one of the components needed to make Health tonics, giving it strong practical applications. If you collect a total of 6 Yarrow plants and finish the Herbalist challenge, you’ll unlock the Herbalist Off-Hand Holster. Note that the holster has to be crafted by visiting a Trapper.
