Red Dead Redemption 2’s solid gameplay and epic scale are both bolstered by an equally epic soundtrack. Now, one of the most iconic songs from that soundtrack is available on the music streaming service Spotify. If you enjoyed listening to D’Angelo’s “Unshaken” during your RDR2 playthrough, you can now stream it whenever you want.
Red Dead Redemption 2 Unshaken on Spotify
Without getting into spoilers, D’Angelo’s Unshaken plays during a pivotal moment in Red Dead Redemption 2’s narrative. The song has a slow, haunting tone which perfectly captures the mood of its spoken chorus. If you’ve heard the song before, apologies for getting this line stuck in your head again:
“May I stand unshaken amidst a crashing world.”
Given RDR2’s central theme of a dying Wild West era, it’s clear what the chorus makes reference to. Protagonist Arthur Morgan is part of a dying breed, the Wild West outlaw. He’s not sure if he can find a place in the new world but he’ll grit his teeth and try.
Unshaken is D’Angelo’s first new song since the 2014 release of his track “Black Messiah.” The song was played as part of the Red Dead Redemption 2 music medley during last month’s Game Awards. It’s also part of a larger soundtrack which includes music from Nas, Willie Nelson, and Josh Homme among others.
Sadly, as of this writing the Red Dead Redemption 2 soundtrack hasn’t been released in any official capacity. The current presumption is that Rockstar will release the soundtrack at some point, we just don’t know when. In the meantime, listening to single songs like Unshaken is the best option fans have. Along with Spotify, the song can be found on platforms such as YouTube and iTunes.
In other Red Dead Redemption 2 news, the game has been nominated for an impressive seven GDCA categories. Rockstar’s latest also topped the UK sales charts during the final week of 2018.
