CD Projekt Red Launches Official Gwent Discord Channel

CD Projekt Red has announced the launch of a new official Gwent Discord channel; discord.gg/playgwent. The channel launch comes just a few weeks before the release of Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales and Gwent: Homecoming; two major new Gwent releases which are both likely to swell the game’s popularity.

The New Official Gwent Discord Channel

CD Projekt Red announced the new Gwent Discord channel earlier today with a news post on the official Gwent website; “We’d like to invite you to join us in a new adventure,” says the studio; “our official, GWENTY GWENTY Discord channel! Many surprises, contests and cool activities await on our way through the land of Discord!”

CD Projekt Red Will Launch Homecoming and Thronebreaker Later in October

With the impending launch of Gwent: Homecoming, the full release of Gwent, CD Projekt Red no doubt expects the community of Gwent fans to expand. Launching a Discord seems a sensible step to prepare for that. It’s currently unknown what the studio’s plans for Gwent are beyond Homecoming and Thronebreaker. However, the card game’s eSports tournaments are only getting larger. In addition, the director of Thronebreaker has said that “The Witcher Tales,” could become a series if fans respond positively to Thronebreaker.

Both Thronebreaker and Homecoming will be launching on the 23rd of October. Thronebreaker will also be launching for consoles in the first week of December. While Thronebreaker is a standalone RPG, Homecoming will be a free update for the free-to-play Gwent card game. Technically, Gwent is still in a pre-release beta form. Homecoming is the long-awaited update which will be the game’s actual full release. The update is bringing a variety of sweeping changes to both gameplay and card art. One of the biggest changes, which also features in Thronebreaker, is the removal of the Siege row on the Gwent board. From here on, Gwent will take place across 4 rows instead of 6.
