Reggie Fils-Aime has announced his retirement from the gaming industry. The former Nintendo of America president will leave his position in the company in April 2019. As expected, lot of gamers were caught off-guard by this news. On the other hand, this also marks the end of an era and a new start for Nintendo of America.
Reggie Fils-Aime Retires Announces his Retirement
According to the official announcement, Reggie will leave his position in April of this year. In summation, this puts an end to an active leadership of 15 years. For example, Reggie has seen incredible success with consoles like the Wii or the Nintendo 3DS. All the while, he also was with Nintendo during tough times such as the failure of the WiiU.
The video is directed towards the Nintendo community and fanbase. Of course, Reggie Fils-Aime definitely loved the parodies that have been done about him. Finally, after his retirement from the company, control will be given to Doug Bowser.

For those unaware, Doug Bowser joined Nintendo of America back in 2015. The former Electronic Arts worker is actually the main reason behind the success of the Nintendo Switch. “It has been my great fortune to work with and be mentored by Reggie for four years at Nintendo of America,” Bowser said.
Shuntaro Furukawa has also stated that Reggie Fils-Aime was a unique person in the world of gaming. “Inside and outside our company, Reggie is known as an exceptional leader,” Shuntaro Furukawa said in the statement. “We are also pleased to have such an able successor ready to step into that role.”
