Resident Evil 2: How to Unlock Infinite Ammo Weapons

The Resident Evil 2 remake has plenty of unlockables for players to pursue. Naturally there are more obvious bonuses like the 4th Survivor/Tofu Survivor modes, but there’s also much more than that. For example, truly skilled Resident Evil players can unlock a pair of weapon alternates which come stocked with infinite ammo. Read on to find out how you can add Resident Evil 2’s infinite ammo weapons to your arsenal.

Unlocking Resident Evil 2’s Infinite Ammo Weapons

To unlock the infinite ammo weapons, you must complete each of the main campaign’s two scenarios with an S rank. For those who don’t know, completing the normal scenario with one character unlocks the “second” scenario for the other. So, for example, if you finish Claire’s normal scenario, you unlock Leon’s second scenario. There are minor differences between the two scenarios which is why the two make up the “full” campaign experience.

There are conflicting reports on which elements affect your final rank. Some say that the amount of times you save the game affects your rank, others say it doesn’t. However, the general consensus is that the total amount of time taken to finish the campaign matters most of all. If you can keep your total game saves number low, then great. What you’ll really want to focus on, though, is beating each campaign as quickly as possible.

The total time that’s allotted for an S rank also changes between the Standard and Hardcore difficulty levels. Here are the total time limits you’re afforded if you’re shooting for an S rank on Standard or Hardcore:

Standard

  • Normal Scenario – Three and a half hours
  • Second Scenario – Three hours

Hardcore

  • Normal Scenario – Two and half hours
  • Second scenario – Two hours

Those are some pretty tight time constraints, but the rewards are well worth it. If you get S ranks for both scenarios on Standard difficulty, you unlock an infinite ammo Samurai Edge pistol. Do the same on Hardcore difficulty and you unlock an infinite ammo LE 5 submachine gun.
