Throughout your Resident Evil 2 remake playthrough, you’ll amass a small arsenal of zombie-slaying weapons. One of the very first new weapons you can get is the shotgun (for Leon) or grenade launcher (for Claire). The weapon in question is found in the RPD Station’s weapons locker, and accessing the locker requires a keycard. In this guide, we’ll show you where to find the keycard and how to reach the RPD Station’s weapons locker.
Finding The Shotgun/Grenade Launcher in Resident Evil 2
To clarify, the weapons locker contains only one new weapon. What weapon that is depends on the character you’re playing as. This is a recurring theme throughout the remake where each character finds their own unique weapons in the same spots. For the RPD Station’s weapons locker, Leon finds the shotgun while Claire finds the grenade launcher.
So, first thing you need to do is locate the weapons locker keycard. If you played Resident Evil 2’s 1-shot demo, you may recall the key card was pretty easy to find. Sadly, the key card is a bit harder to track down in the remake’s full version. Specifically, the key card is located in the Art Room on the RPD Station’s second floor.
You can’t reach the second floor hallway with the Art Room until you find the Spade Key. Keep progressing through the RPD Station until you find the Spade Key on the third floor. You’ll actually pass by the first floor’s Safety Deposit Room (where the weapons locker is) on your way. Once you have the Spade Key, you can unlock the door in the second floor’s Waiting Room. The Waiting Room leads into the hallway connecting to the Art Room.
The weapons locker keycard is resting on a table in the Art Room. Simply grab the key card and then backtrack to the Safety Deposit Room. At the far back of the Safety Deposit Room is the locker holding the shotgun/grenade launcher along with some ammunition.
