For quite some time now, Apex Legends players have been asking Respawn to provide them with a better training mode; somewhere they can experiment with new weapons and Legends, or practice their team coordination. At last, Respawn have done just that, with today’s launch of the Apex Legends Firing Range.
The New Apex Legends Firing Range
Enabled today as part of Update 3.1; the new Apex Legends Firing Range offers players a much more comprehensive and versatile training experience. First revealed last month during the first Apex Legends Devstream, the new mode can be entered via the game lobby either solo or with your whole squad. Inside, players will find every weapon, attachment, and piece of equipment that would normally be found around the map in a game, as well as an array of practice targets. These include dummies which allow players to practice headshots, as well as targets with shields.
Plus, while playing Firing Range, players can freely switch between any of the game’s Legends. (Without having to exit the mode and load back in.) An in-game menu allows players to switch Legends at will and practice with their different abilities and Ultimates. Hopefully, this will sate players’ hunger for a more practical training mode. Certainly, this new feature should help players practice teamwork without having to actually play in full matches. Of course, it should also help players get to grips with new additions outside of the crucible of battle too.
Because the addition of Firing Range was heavily driven by player feedback, it seems that Respawn are keen to get up-to-date feedback on the new mode. In the Update 3.1 patch notes, they state; “Future improvements to come! Please give us your feedback”. Hopefully, this means that the developers will address any issues quickly, or indeed, consider implementing any suggested improvements as quickly as possible.
