Apex Legends Season 2 – Battle Charge, is set to begin on the 2nd of July, in just a few days’ time. Ahead of that shift to a new season, Respawn has released a brand-new launch trailer. The cinematic trailer gives a more characterful look at the world of Apex Legends, and also answers some of the mysteries in the upcoming season, although some questions still remain.
Battle Charge: The Apex Legends Season 2 Trailer
The biggest reveal in the Apex Legends Season 2 trailer is, without a doubt, the reveal of the massive reptilian creatures which stride into King’s Canyon after the Repulsor Tower is destroyed. These beasts were teased in the Season 2 teaser trailer at EA Play. However, all that players were shown was the enormous eyeball of one of these monsters. Now, we know exactly what they look like; colossal quadrupedal creatures on stilt-like legs. Presumably, the canyon’s Repulsor Tower has been keeping the native fauna at bay. No longer.
The smaller pterodactyl-like creatures have already appeared in King’s Canyon, another teaser to what’s coming in season 2. However, the trailer suggests that these might be developed further once the season begins; possibly even putting them in a PvE role. At present, the creatures do not fight back if shot at and can be killed. By contrast, the much larger new arrivals are unlikely to pay any attention to players. Indeed, their sheer size is likely to make them more of an obstacle or environmental hazard than an enemy.
Much remains to be seen, however, as to how these creatures will change King’s Canyon. Season 2 will be bringing plenty of new content besides new inhabitants to the map, of course. The new legend, Wattson, will be available to play. Plus, Respawn is bringing a new weapon and a whole host of weapon changes. Of course, there will also be a new set of unlockable cosmetics and other such items.
