Like many battle royale titles, Apex Legends only had a single map when it first launched; Kings Canyon. With the launch of the newer World’s Edge map at the start of Season 3, Kings Canyon became inaccessible, and has remained unplayable ever since. However, the Apex Legends Kings Canyon map will briefly be making its return tomorrow, although it will only be available for a few days.
The Brief Return of the Apex Legends Kings Canyon Map
For months now, World’s Edge has been the only map available in Apex Legends, having replaced Kings Canyon in Season 3. Like its predecessor, it has now had several alterations and additions, most notably at the start of Season 4. However, Respawn has now decided to bring Kings Canyon back, albeit only very briefly. Rather than replacing World’s Edge, the two maps will both be available to play during this time.
King’s Canyon officially returns to Apex Legends tomorrow, on the 21st of February. However, it will only be playable for a few days, until the 24th. After that, the map will be taken away again. As such, fans of the old map will have to play as much as they can over the weekend! However, if you want another chance to play on Kings Canyon, fear not; the map will actually be returning to the game for a lengthier period of time later in Season 4.
Apex Legends’ Ranked Series 3, which is running parallel to Season 4, features two “Splits,” between which is a soft reset of player ranks. The first split, which is currently ongoing, will be ending on the 23rd of March. On that date, the ranked play map will actually switch from World’s Edge to Kings Canyon. The old map will then be playable all the way until the 5th of May. Presumably, this shift will only affect ranked play, with World’s Edge remaining as the active map in standard matches. However, it’s possible that Respawn could make Kings Canyon playable in both modes instead.
