Although the game’s official release date is still a few days away, it seems that Riot Games already has new content in the works for Valorant; namely, a new playable agent. Throughout the beta period, ten different agents have been available to play. Reyna will be the eleventh, and will be coming to the game either at launch, or shortly thereafter.
The First New Valorant Agent – Reyna
Riot revealed Reyna, their first new Valorant agent, for the first time via a showcase video which was recently posted on social media. This thirty-second video gives fans a brief glimpse at the character’s gameplay style and abilities. From this video, her style of play appears to focus on stealing energy from slain players in a rather vampiric fashion. However, more written details about her specific abilities have subsequently begun to circulate on social media, originating from a Spanish-language article wherein a regional brand manager at Riot revealed more about Reyna.
According to these details, an orb will drop every time an enemy player is slain. Reyna can collect there orbs with either her Q or E ability. One will grant her three seconds of invincibility, while the other will grant her three seconds of regeneration. Her C ability, meanwhile, allows her to set a trap which temporarily blinds enemies who trigger it. Finally, Riot doesn’t show Reyna’s Ultimate ability, “Empress,” in the teaser video, although its name does appear on-screen briefly.
While it may still be under wraps, other sources suggest that Empress will be a personal boost of some kind. More specifically, activating it will apparently boost both Reyna’s ability recharge and weapon fire rate. Additionally, players can apparently combine Empress with Reyna’s E ability to allow her to become temporarily invisible. However, it remains unclear exactly how these abilities will work in-game. Players will have to find out for themselves when Reyna comes to the game. Riot have yet to confirm exactly when that will be, but it is anticipated to be either at launch on the 2nd of June or shortly thereafter.
