Root Canal: Far Cry 5’s Latest Weekly Live Event Starts Today

The latest of Ubisoft’s weekly live events for Far Cry 5 has now begun online. This week’s event is entitled “Root Canal”, and follows the “Friendly Fire” event which ran throughout last week.

Root Canal follows the standard format of Ubisoft’s weekly live events. If you are unfamiliar, the event poses a relatively challenge to Far Cry 5’s players. If you can complete the challenge a set number of times, you will earn a small reward. Complete it a higher number of times, however, and you will unlock a special event reward. Meanwhile, another two thresholds are set for the community in general. If everybody can complete the challenge enough times to pass the second threshold, everyone involved can also earn a special community reward, which is typically a new outfit.

This week, Ubisoft wants players to check the dental health of the game’s cultists, preferably rather forcefully with something large and heavy. In practice, you’ll need to kill cultists with melee weapons, and then loot their teeth to complete the challenge.

If you can collect 5 sets of cultist teeth, you will gain 100 XP and 50 Silver Bars, Far Cry 5’s micro-transaction currency. Collect 10 sets, however, and you will be rewarded with 100 XP and the vent reward. This week’s reward is a baseball bat called “Tooth and Nail”. This weapon is a brutal metal baseball bat that boasts higher damage than Far Cry 5’s standard baseball bat. It’s perfect for players who like dealing with cultists up close and personal.

If the community as a whole collect 175,000 sets of teeth, everybody will get 100 XP and 50 Silver Bars. If everybody collects a total of 350,000 sets, then everyone will be rewarded with a further 100 XP and the “Dentist” special outfit. The outfit comes complete with clinical attire and a dental mask. However, the bloodstained apron does little to convince people that you are an accredited dental health professional.
