Root Double -Before Crime * After Days- Xtend Edition Gets Limited Release for PS Vita

Game developers Sekai Project and Yeti have been working with Sony to bring a physical copy of the popular game “Root Double: Before Crime * After Days Xtend Edition” to the PlayStation Vita. Though the game is widely available through digital downloads, East Asia Soft announced in a press release that this extended edition offers new features and collectible items.

“Root Double” originally came out in 2012 and was for platforms like PCs and the Xbox 360. When Sekai Project joined development, the group helped make the game much more widespread, reaching new corners of the gaming world. Now, the game is seeing a renewed interest with the Xtend Edition.

The game is a little different than others. Instead of a traditional game, it’s actually a visual novel that follows the story of a group of individuals that get trapped in the basement of a research facility, LABO. After explosions and nuclear reactions, the group has to find a way to survive through it all. Between leaking radiation and emotions running high, this survival game is one that gets players’ adrenalin pumping.

Set in 2030, the city of Rokumie is facing a disaster. Players get to experience the story through Natsuhiko Tenkawa, a high school student, and Watase Kasasagi, the Sirius rescue squad captain. Alternating between these two perspectives, nine characters must navigate through the disaster — but only six will make it out alive!

Plus, the Senses Sympathy System (SSS) lets players adjust their character’s qualities and feelings to fit the situation. Characters move through the game based on emotion, which makes this game stand out in the crowd. The user projects their own feelings onto their character, bringing the gaming experience to a whole new level. On top of this cool dynamic, there are several different endings to the game!

The new physical version comes with the main game, a manual, two new original soundtrack CDs and a collector’s certificate all inside a collector’s edition box. Those who want to buy should keep in mind that the PlayAsia is limiting available physical copies to the first 2,000. Pre-order began on September 10, and the game will ship in November of this year.

The PlayStation Vita is Sony’s version of handheld devices that compete with the likes of the Nintendo Switch. Though gamers can download the digital version of “Root Double” through the Sony website, the physical Xtend Edition is the only place to get the neat new features — like a new ending and several updates.

Buying the Game

With stunning animation and illustrations, users get countless hours of gameplay with “Root Double: Before Crime * After Days Xtend Edition.” For the traditional digital game, users can purchase it from the Sony site and then download it onto their PS Vita.

For gamers who want the upcoming physical limited edition, they can use the PlayAsia site to pre-order. Then, they can expect “Root Double” in November. Happy gaming!
