RPG Maker MV will feature data-sharing on the Nintendo Switch and Xbox One versions of the game but not PS4. This should come as no surprise to anyone who has seen Sony’s refusal when it comes to connecting with other console versions of games. MV is the next PS4 title to be isolated from sharing data with its console counterparts.
This was revealed in the latest Famitsu Japanese weekly magazine, courtesy of Ryokutya2089 as usual. RPG Maker MV is a game that, as the title states, allows you to create and share your very own 2D RPG games. It’s simple enough to use so that anyone can upload their RPG’s. Even if someone isn’t interested in creating their own games, they can use the free Player app to download other people’s creations.
The RPG Maker MV Player app is how you find and play what someone else in the world has uploaded. It’s free to use this app on all console versions, but only the Nintendo Switch and Xbox One versions will allow data-sharing. From how it sounds in Famitsu, players will be able to check out creations from either version even if they don’t own that console platform.
However, RPG Maker MV PS4 players will only be able to, presumably, check out games created on that version. None of the three platforms have any confirmed sharing with the PC edition that is available right now so it remains to be seen if that will be possible on PS4.
RPG Maker MV will release in Japan on Switch, PS4, and Xbox One on November 15th and here in the West sometime in 2019. While we wait for its release, check out how Japan now has a dockless Nintendo Switch console for sale and how it has yet to be confirmed to be coming to the West.
