You may recall rumors about an Xbox console with the codename “Project Edinburgh.” Been wondering what became of Project Edinburgh? It appears Project Edinburgh has once again surfaced, this time under the name “Xbox Series V.” But as of this point, its existence is still a rumor. Let’s check out a recent supposed leak.
Will There Be an Xbox Series V?
A user called Idle Sloth on Twitter made the following post:
The text says, “(Rumor) There is a Xbox Series V (codename is Project Edinburg) it’s rumored to be less powerful than the Series X but more Powerful than the Series S.”
The text is accompanied by a screenshot that shows the Xbox Series X and Xbox series S along with a third console between them named the Xbox Series V. This console is similar in appearance to the Series X, but is smaller than it. It is, however larger than the Series S. Presumably, if this console exists, we could expect it to also feature a mid-range price between the two.
Is the source reliable? We don’t know. Xbox Series V certainly seems plausible, but this could be an entirely random rumor rather than an authentic leak. The only way to find out will be to wait and see whether Microsoft introduces the Series V or not. It is unclear whether we could expect this console to debut with the others or later—but we would assume later.
In the meantime, you can read another recent rumor regarding possible game optimization issues for Xbox Series S. And if you are trying to figure out which console to buy, you can compare the Xbox Series S with the Xbox Series X. The release date for both versions of Microsoft’s next gen console is November 10th. You will be able to pick up the Xbox Series X for $499, or the Xbox Series S for $299.
