Recently, we reported that there may be a State of Play presentation scheduled for August. Now, there is a new rumor originating on Bloomberg. It indicates that there could be a PS5 announcement incoming for August. Being as Bloomberg is obviously a reliable reference and their source is apparently at PlayStation itself, the rumor seems likely to be solid.
There Should Be a PS5 Announcement Incoming This Month
Bloomberg reported, “An official at the PlayStation unit, who asked not to be identified because the plan is not yet public, said Sony’s next announcement regarding the PlayStation 5 is tentatively scheduled for this month. The company intends to release two versions of the console, one with a Blu-ray disc drive and one without, though it has yet to disclose the pricing for either model.”
Speaking of both versions of the console, it seems trying to add both to your cart may generate an error message. So, it might be that we will be limited to purchasing one PS5 console per household for now. Such would make a lot of sense in light of the high demand that Sony expects this holiday season.
We are just several months away from the holiday release window for the PlayStation 5. In light of that fact, it only makes sense for there to be some forthcoming announcements. Even though we know a great deal about the PS5 by this point, we still have a lot of questions which need answering. Hopefully Sony will provide answers to some of those questions this month.
As soon as we learn more about what we might hear about during the announcement, we will update you. You can keep up with all the latest news and rumors about the PlayStation 5 in our PlayStation news section. Check back in soon!
