While following news on Resident Evil, you probably became aware both of the existence of the multiplayer game Project Resistance which is under development and the rumors about a remake of Resident Evil 3. But, what about Resident Evil 8? We’ve heard almost nothing on this front. But, now there is a fresh rumor which may point toward the game coming out on next generation consoles.
Resident Evil 8 for Next Gen Platforms
The rumor comes from a source on Twitter called @EvilVR. Here is the relevant set of tweets:
The tweets read, “#RE3Remake will be the last RE game for this current-gen. Don’t expect #RE8 to come anytime soon for it was always planned to be for next-gen with the updated RE Engine, in which there are few new infos on the new engine and one of them is now having the cel-shading effect. But please keep in mind that I didn’t say anything about #RE3Remake being announced at The Game Awards 2019. It might, but I have no idea. I only know much about #RE8 and its new updated engine.”
We don’t know much about this source, so we can’t hazard a guess as to the validity of the “leak.” But, we can at least say that it makes sense. It’d be hard to imagine Resident Evil 8 not being slated for release on Xbox Scarlett and PlayStation 5 if it exists. We’re only around a year away from the release of those new consoles, and right now, Capcom is still busy with Project Resistance and possibly a remake of Resident Evil 3.
For now, all we can do is continue to keep our eyes open for more possible leaks and rumors surrounding Resident Evil 8 and other games in the franchise. Whatever we hear, we will report to you right away. Check back with us again soon to learn more about Project Resistance, the possible Resident Evil 3 remake, and Resident Evil 8.
