Even though we have learned more and more about The Last of Us Part II, there has still been no official announcement for the release date for the game. But now, there is a new rumor regarding The Last of Us Part II release date. And if it is to be believed, we may not need to wait as long as we thought to find out what’s been happening in the lives of Ellie and Joel.
Newest Last of Us Part II Release Date Leak
According to a poster on 4chan, the release date for The Last of Us Part II is May 22, 2020. The poster claims that they received this information from “an internal source of Naughty Dog’s development teams,” and that this person heard it at “a corporate meeting of Sony PlayStation marketing leaders with the general leaders and lead directors of the Naughty Dog studios.” They also claim, “The release date of the game will be publicly revealed during this autumn.”
So what can we make of this, if anything? Well, May 22nd makes sense in general as a release date for a big Sony exclusive, being a Friday. But the source is less than trustworthy. With 4chan, leaks are hit or miss, so there is no reason to be all that confident in this one. Nevertheless, we did want to pass it on to our readers just in case it turns out to be true.
Just a few weeks ago, there was another rumor that The Last of Us Part II release date would be in February 2020. That one came from a more reputable source. And it is interesting that both of these rumors point toward spring 2020 as a release window. Either way, hopefully we will be finding out an official release date soon.
