This year’s eagerly awaited Battlefield V title may well be Bad Company 3 according to a recent rumor.
Said rumor comes from Abbas Al-Rubaie, who is purported to be an employee of EA DICE and is someone who has worked closely with the much anticipated FPS. Recently, Al-Rubaie tweeted the following:
battlefield 2018 is BC3
#Battlefield2018
Since the tweet gained some momentum, Al-Rubaie has subsequently deleted it and made his account private, which possibly suggests that this tweet could potentially be legitimate. It’s worth noting that Al-Rubaie is followed by many of the development team at EA DICE and is also followed by the official Battlefield account, too.
That being said, it’s somewhat unlikely that an official member of the EA DICE development team would announce the game in such a fashion, particularly considering the huge amount of non disclosure agreements that are usually signed when working on a AAA game of this magnitude. Therefore, we’d suggest to take this rumor with a massive grain of salt.
With rumors swirling suggesting that the new Battlefield may even include its very own Battle Royale mode – a lot like Activision’s upcoming Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 – there’s much speculation in regards to when DICE’s highly anticipated flagship shooter may release as well. Many believe that it will launch sometime in October, as its three predecessors – Battlefield 3, 4 and 1 – all launched in October, too.
Interestingly, it’s been over eight years since EA last revisited the modern setting of the Bad Company sub-franchise. Following last year’s World War 1 setting in Battlefield 1, do you think it’s time to return to a more modern time-frame? Additionally, Bad Company 2 was not only a critical and commercial success, but it also resonated very well with the hardcore Battlefield community. Will this return to the Bad Company sub-franchise be welcomed by Battlefield fans? As always, be sure to let us know in the comments below.
