Following the success of the NES and SNES minis, a new mini Nintendo console is bound to come out. Continuing the trend of those and other mini retro consoles, a Nintendo 64 mini has leaked online (via TheNerdMag).
Continuing the Trend
Following posts from Reddit and Twitter, user Nacho & Pistachio posted the pictures shown above of the supposed Nintendo 64 mini. Nintendo hasn’t made a statement regarding the validity of these pictures. It’s possible that Nintendo will make an announcement about it by the end of the year. It looks legitimate enough to be real. In the meantime, this is nothing but a rumor.
The presence of mini retro consoles is one that’s been around for a while. Nintendo released an NES mini for $60 in a limited quantity and later released a SNES mini for $70. Other companies such as Sega and Playstation have their own retro mini consoles on the horizon. Priced at $100, the PlayStation Classic will come out on December 3rd with 20 games packed in. More recently, a mini version of the Commodore 64 was released with 64 games packed in.
Price, Release Date, and More
It’s been rumored of Nintendo continuing the mini console trend with their other consoles such as the GameBoy along with the Nintendo 64. If the leaked Nintendo 64 mini is real, it’ll probably include at least 20 games with at least two controllers. Additionally, it’s possible it’d be anywhere between $60-$100. As for a release date, it wouldn’t be surprising if it came out later this year or during the first half of 2019. In the meantime, take these pictures with a grain of salt.
