Update: Activision has confirmed to VGR the Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice release date in an email. Players will be able to play the title on March 22, 2019. Read below for the full story.
Original Story: It seems that the Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice release date has been leaked by Steam. As of right now, Activision and famed developer From Software have yet to release an official release date so this is certainly a surprise. The potential release date for the upcoming game could March 22, 2019, if the leak is to be believed and not simply a placeholder.
The Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice release date leak was noticed by Twitter user RobotBrush today. The user noticed that a Steam page for the game has shown up as with all games that release on the platform. Interestingly enough, the Steam page for the title doesn’t have a general release date like 2019 but actually shows March 22, 2019 as the official date.
Now, it’s worth noting that the Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice release date could simply be a placeholder as it does fall just before the end of the current fiscal year. That could hint that publisher Activision simply wants to have the game out before the end of the fiscal year but it does seem like an oddly specific release date for sure.
As such, it is worth noting that it definitely could be the real Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice release date. March 22, 2019 is a Friday, which has become an increasingly more popular day of the week for video game releases recently. It isn’t the last Friday of that month, either, so it certainly could be the real release date.
Only time will tell, though, as publisher Activision has yet to give an official Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice release date just yet. You can find the Steam page screenshotted above in case the release date is removed later today. Make sure to stay tuned here for any further news regarding the release date and the game as a whole in the future.
