The Shenmue 3 director, Yu Suzuki, has recently participated on 2018’s G-Fusion Tour. On the event, Suzuki had the chance to bring more details about the long-awaited new game in the franchise. The director went on to talk about how the game will double the length of previous games and other interesting details regarding side quests.
Shenmue 3 Will be Twice as Long as Past Entries
According to Yu Suzuki, the game is going to be double the length of other entries in the series. The director mentioned that the original games could be completed in a week’s time. Meanwhile, the latest entry will take multiple weeks and have a lot of content for the player.
Yu Suzuki also stated that Shenmue 3 can be played once the main story finishes. Unlike previous entries where players needed to start a new game to experience the game again. The director also hinted that there may be more storylines once the game is finished.
On the other hand, Suzuki revealed that side quests will no longer be independent of the game. As such, they will be incorporated into the game’s story to provide a more cohesive experience. He also implied that the development of the game would be much easier thanks to this.
Lastly, Yu Suzuki talked about the importance of mini-games in Shenmue 3. The mini-games will have a larger impact on the game as a whole. This is due to better integration within the story. Not only that, but some mini-games will be returning from Shenmue 1 and 2.
