Intel Extreme Masters Rio Major 2022 is coming up in just a couple of weeks, and will be among the biggest esports events to grace this year’s calendar. To make it easy for fans to bet on the action, Skin.Club is offering pick’em betting with exciting prizes. Let’s learn more about the Skin.Club Pick’em as well as IEM Rio Major 2022.
What is Intel Extreme Masters Rio Major 2022?
If you are not familiar with Intel Extreme Masters (IEM), a good starting point is to learn more about the event. IEM launched in 2006, and is now about to run its eighteenth major for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO). That makes it the longest-running professional gaming tour on the planet.
IEM Rio Major 2022 will (of course) take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. The event will kick off on October 31st and run through November 13th. ESL and Valve are overseeing the competition.
This championship is particularly long-awaited by fans. It was actually supposed to happen clear back in May 2020. As you might guess, the delay is the result of COVID.
Legends competing include FaZe Clan (the PGL Major Antwerp 2022 winners), Natus Vincere, Ninjas in Pyjamas, ENCE, Sprout Heroic, Team Spirit and Team Liquid. Challenges include OG, Team Vitality, BIG Clan, Cloud9, Evil Geniuses, MOUZ, Bad News Eagles and 9z Team. Contenders include Outsiders, Team GamerLegion, Furia Esports, 00 Nation, Imperial Esports, Fnatic, Grayhound Gaming and IHC Esports.
In late September, the IEM account on Twitter announced that the prize pool for the event will be $1,250,000. Originally, the prize pool was going to be $1 million, but ESL decided to pull the extra funds from the IEM Road. The advantage of doing this is that it allows teams that place to win $10,000 (as opposed to nothing). The winner of the event will get $500,000.
