One of the more ambitious mod projects out there for The Elder Scrolls games is “Skyblivion“. The mod team working on the project are attempting to recreate The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion in Skyrim; in a similar fashion to the Fallout 4 New Vegas mod. The team have yet to announce a release date. However, a newly released update showcases their new design for ebony armor; a far sleeker look than previous designs.
The New Skyblivion Ebony Armor
The new design for ebony armor was created by 3D artist Spyros Frigas, one of the team members working on Skyblivion. Yesterday, the team posted; “A small update to yesterday’s post showing the most thin and most muscled versions of the Ebony Armor set. Big or small, you are going to look awesome wearing this bad ass set”. It’s worth noting that the modders actually went to the trouble of making variants to change the look and size of the armor; all based on the size of the player character. Such an option was certainly not noticeable in the original Oblivion.
Skyblivion has been a very ambitious long-term project thus far; the team have been hard at work for several years on the mod, with regular content updates delivered to their supportive community. They unveiled their latest teaser trailer back in February, showcasing parts of the landscape and other content. Thus far, the team have not announced a release date. Like most large-scale mods, progress can be slow; they are usually the work of small team, after all, rather than the large development teams who work in official studios. This latest update shows just how far the Skyblivion team have gotten with their work.
The mod team also recently revealed that they were looking for a new texture artist to join the team; applicants must be willing to play-test, and have experience with Substance Designed, Substance Painter, Photoshop, and Quixel.
