SEGA has announced that Sonic the Hedgehog and Thunder Force IV are coming to Nintendo Switch next month. Fans of these classic SEGA games will be happy to know that they will be releasing on Switch in August, though, no specific release date has been given just yet. It was already announced that these two games and a third one would be coming to Switch at some point so it’s good to know that the wait is almost over. Sonic the Hedgehog and Thunder Force IV will be coming next month with some notable changes. These aren’t just straight ports of the original SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive titles. They do have some noteworthy additions.

In the case of Sonic the Hedgehog, it will have some new gameplay additions. Players will be able to utilize the Drop Dash from Sonic Mania and the Spin Dash from Sonic 2 in the game. Of course, purists who don’t want these new features can turn them off, thankfully, in the settings. It will also include the Mega Play features from the arcade version.

Sonic the Hedgehog will retain the Ring Keep mode from the 3DS version of 3D Sonic 2. It will also have two challenge modes for players to take on in the form of a ranking mode and a Score Attack mode. In the case of Thunder Force IV, this shoot ’em up will let you pick between the Japanese and International versions of the game, a kid-friendly easier mode, and Styx from Thunder Force III.
