The 7th of September will mark the first anniversary of the release of Spider-Man last year, one of the most successful 2018 titles in a year full of massively successful releases. Ahead of that anniversary, Sony and Insomniac Games are releasing Spider-Man: Game of the Year Edition. Available immediately, the new edition contains all of the game’s DLC. This is technically Insomniac Games’ first release since they were bought by Sony earlier this month.
The Spider-Man: Game of the Year Edition
The Spider-Man: Game of the Year Edition was announced recently with a new Accolades Trailer for the game; highlighting the accolades received by the critically-acclaimed 2018 title. Since then, Insomniac Games has released three episodic DLC releases entitled The City That Never Sleeps. The Game of the Year Edition includes the base game and a voucher for the entire three-episode DLC series. “It’s a great value,” writes James Stevenson, Insomniac’s Community Director; “as you get the full game and all three story chapters of Marvel’s Spider-Man: The City That Never Sleeps for just $39.99 USD MSRP.”
The game is actually available straightaway too. Fans can pick it up at physical retailers or on the PlayStation Store. Plus, there’s an incentive for existing players who never played the DLC. All three episodes of the DLC are now available on the PlayStation Store for $24.99 USD.
According to Stevenson, Insomniac will be looking back at the game’s release over the course of the next few weeks. It’s currently unknown what this anniversary event will include. However, the release of the Game of the Year Edition is certainly a big way to start it off. “We’re honoured to mark the one-year anniversary of the game with this new Game of the Year Edition,” says Stevenson; “We hope that some of you who maybe haven’t had the chance to experience Marvel’s Spider-Man can now swing into all of the amazing Spidey action with the complete package.”
