A Splatoon 2 player has hacked their way to the top of the online leaderboard in order to send a message directly to Nintendo. The player with the username PleaseAddAntiCheat on Reddit used a hack to edit their X Power to become the number one player on the ranked leaderboard for the Splat Zones, Tower Control, Rainmaker, and Clam Blitz modes.
The hacker then named themselves in such a way that the leaderboard aptly read from top to bottom “please add anti cheat.” They then took to Reddit to make a comment on the Splatoon 2 subreddit to state that they accomplished this feat. They even shared an image from the Nintendo Online mobile app as proof of the deed.
Though the hacker used methods to make their X Power appear as the highest on the Splatoon 2 leaderboard, they did not in fact actually use cheats in games for a gameplay advantage. This was all in an attempt to appeal to Nintendo for it to come up with more strict security measures against players who would commit acts like this.
The hacker attempted to prove that if they could do then someone with far more nefarious intentions could hack the game and create an unhealthy and unfair environment for other players. Reddit user Pleaseaddanticheat was even willing to receive a console ban from Nintendo for their methods if necessary.
Thankfully, it doesn’t seem Nintendo has banned them permanently but they have since reduced their X Power to zero for all four Splatoon 2 modes. Nintendo has not yet made an official statement regarding what the player did so it remains to be seen if they successfully got their intended message across. We will update you further if Nintendo makes a comment on the matter. In the meantime, check out our info on the upcoming Splatoon 2 Splatfest and Ninjala, a game that certainly reminds us of Nintendo’s shooter.
