Now that Star Wars Battlefront 2’s Clone Troopers update is live, developer DICE has posted an updated content roadmap that reveals when exactly players can look forward to new content additions throughout the remainder of 2018and early 2019.
According to this new roadmap post on the Star Wars Battlefront 2 website, DICE’s current plan is to release a series of major updates for the game in September, October, November, and the winter, 2018-2019 period.
First up in September, Battlefront 2 players can look forward to the newly revamped Squads system which will bring the existing Squads functionality more in line with what is already available in DICE’s Battlefield series. Specifically, players will be able to spawn onto squad mates while playing the Galactic Assault, Strike, and Blast game modes (the new Squad spawn functionality will eventually be added to all of the game’s multiplayer modes). The September update will also include even more Clone Trooper skin options, this time drawing from the 91st Mobile Reconnaissance Corps and 104th Wolfpack Battalion.
In October, the villainous Jedi-killer General Grievous will join the ranks of the Dark Side hero roster, and at launch he’ll have two separate appearance options. Then, in November, Clone Wars-era Obi-Wan Kenobi will bring balance to the game’s hero roster (and the Force) by joining the Light Side stable of playable heroes. The November update will also include a new Geonosis map for the Galactic Assault mode, complete with three brand new vehicles: the BARC speeder, the AT-TE, and the STAP. Lastly, new Clone Trooper appearances for the 212th Attack Battalion will round out the November update.
While DICE hasn’t’ yet nailed down finalized release windows, the winter, 2018-2019 period will see the release of the final two Clone Wars heroes: Count Dooku and Anakin Skywalker. Throughout the winter season, DICE will also add in a brand new large-scale game mode in which teams vie for control of various capture points and must ultimately take down the opposition’s capital ship. There will also be two final sets of Clone Trooper skins, drawn from the Coruscant Guard and 501st Legion.
In other Star Wars Battlefront 2 news, Emperor Palpatine was recently restored after a game-breaking glitch forced DICE to temporarily remove him from the in-game hero roster.
