New Story Missions Coming in Borderlands 3 Director’s Cut DLC

In just over one month’s time, Gearbox will be releasing the second half of Borderlands 3’s second Season Pass; the Director’s Cut DLC. Following on from the Designer’s Cut DLC last year, this expansion plans to introduce a major new raid boss, as well as a series of new story missions.

Story Content in Borderlands 3 Director’s Cut DLC

Last year, the Designer’s Cut DLC received some criticism from Borderlands 3 fans when it was revealed to lack any new story content; a stark contrast to the major story DLC expansions in the game’s first Season Pass. Although the Director’s Cut DLC doesn’t include a full new story in the same vein as those expansions, it will include a series of missions focusing on Ava.

“Elsewhere in the Borderlands 3 universe,” explains Gearbox; “Ava is convinced she has a lead on some potentially supernatural slayings and has decided to document her findings in serialized podcast form. Join her and other familiar faces as a gun-toting co-host for a series of new story missions.”

According to Gearbox, these missions will take place on Pandora, Eden-6, Promethea, and Nekrotafeyo. However, the studio has not revealed details on how many missions there will be. (Nor how long they will take for players to complete.) Whatever the case, however, these won’t simply be a series of strung-together combat encounters. According to Gearbox, players will need to engage in crime scene investigations and find environmental clues in order to solve mysteries. Once again, it’s currently unknown how in-depth these investigative mechanics will be.

These new missions will be available to play once The Director’s Cut DLC launches for Borderlands 3 on the 18th of March, next month. Alongside this story content, players will be able to challenge a new endgame raid boss. Aside from that, the DLC includes a selection of material from the development of Borderlands 3; a concept art gallery, storyboards, maps, and bloopers, among other things.
