If you are a fan of the streamer Pokimane, you may notice less content from her over the coming month. In fact, Pokimane is taking a break for some self-care during these challenging times.
Why Pokimane is Taking a Break
Pokimane made the following tweet to explain her time off:
In the tweet is an image with a message titled “AFK.” The text in the image explains, “Since quarantine began, it’s been hard for me to find the same joys and motivation for making content. The things I look forward to the most, like visiting my family, traveling, going to conventions, and meeting some of you, aren’t possible right now. This has led to me feeling burnt out for quite some time, and because of that, I’ve been planning to take a month off. I recognize that I’m very lucky to be able to work during a pandemic, however, I still need to do what’s best for my mental health.”
As she goes on to mention, this will be the streamer’s first month off in six years. So, taking some time off seems more than reasonable. Plus, burn-out is burn-out—when you feel it coming on, pushing yourself harder just makes it worse. Pokimane is therefore doing the best thing for her mental health and for her career. Hopefully after a month, she will be ready to come back strong.
She reminds her fans at the end of her message that we should all be taking care of our mental health right now, even if that means we also need to take a break. So, that is good advice. We hope that Pokimane’s fans will continue to support her while she is taking her much-deserved time off, and will be there to greet her when she returns from her hiatus.
