Players Are Struggling to Uninstall the Fallout 76 BETA

The Fallout 76 BETA ended last week, bringing to an end a period of almost three weeks during which the game was playable for a number of sessions. However, in the wake of the end of the event, some participants have run into a problem; being unable to actually uninstall it.

Problems Uninstalling the Fallout 76 BETA on PC

Complaints have been made on both Bethesda’s own forums and on Reddit from fans who appear to be unable to uninstall the Fallout 76 BETA from their computers. This appears to apply to people regardless of whether they received a code with their pre-order of the game, or one of the BETA friend codes which were made available to participants during the event. It’s unknown exactly how widespread this problem is, but it certainly seems to have affected a lot of people.

Players Are Encountering Problems Trying to Uninstall the Fallout 76 BETA

When an affected player attempts to uninstall the Fallout 76 BETA, they receive a prompt to log in to the Bethesda.net launcher. Once they do and the launcher connects to the internet, they can then continue to try to uninstall. However, when they do this, the launcher interrupts with the message; “No Access Granted.”

“You do not have access to this game,” it reads; “Please check to make sure you are signed in with the Bethesda.net account associated with the purchase of this game.”

The likeliest answer is that the launcher needs to communicate with the game’s servers for some reason prior to uninstalling. Of course, those servers are currently down. They will go live again in two days’ time when Fallout 76 launches. Hopefully, affected players will be able to uninstall the game then. Fans who are expecting to download the game properly on the 14th do not need to uninstall the BETA; the BETA file will simply merge with the files for the full game. Any progress you made during the BETA will also carry over, regardless of whether you uninstall the BETA or not, as all progress is saved in the game’s servers.
