With Super Smash Bros. Ultimate coming out this December, the news keeps coming. Nintendo’s Japanese Store (via Nintendo Everything) revealed the possible file size. Nintendo states that the game will roughly need 16GB of storage.
For a game of this scale, 16GB doesn’t sound like that much. To put this in perspective, Super Smash Bros. on the Wii U needed 15.7GB of storage. The Nintendo 3DS version only needed 2.1GB of free storage.
This is far from the biggest file size to come to the Nintendo Switch. Among the highest sizes (via Nintendo Life) is L.A Noire with 27.4GB, Resident Evil Revelations 2 with 23.6GB, and NBA 2K18 with 23GB. Other massive games such as Skyrim, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 come below 15GB which is impressive.
The game is coming out on December 7th and it’ll easily be the biggest Smash Bros. game yet. It’ll have the largest roster to date and plenty of stages to choose from. Characters such as Ice Climbers, Cloud, Ryu, and Solid Snake all make a return to the series among others. Every amiibo every produced will be compatible and more figures are on the way. Once again, Gamecube controllers are compatible and one of the many available controllers to use.
The game is still a couple months out so the file size can easily change. It’s still in development and is nearing the finish line. With a fighting game this ambitious, there’s a lot of testing and character balancing to do. Topics such as DLC characters and a story mode are bound to be mentioned in the next couple months before launch.
What do you think of the supposed file size? Does it seem like too much or too little? Let us know in the comments section below. We’d love to hear from you.
