The Super Smash Bros Ultimate Nintendo Direct is out now and we’ve got our full news roundup for everything that was revealed during the nearly half-hour presentation. A couple of new fighters were revealed to be coming to this ultimate entry in the series alongside its stage count, soundtrack count, and so much more.
In terms of fighters, the Super Smash Bros Ultimate Nintendo Direct didn’t hold back. We got a total of two completely new, original fighters and several new “echo fighters.” Echo fighters feature similar playstyles to their original counterparts but are completely different characters with unique voices and animations; think of them as fancier color swapped fighters.
The new original fighters that were featured in the Super Smash Bros Ultimate Nintendo Direct capped off the presentation. The video started with the reveal of Simon Belmont from the Castlevania series and ended with the reveal of Donkey Kong series antagonist King K. Rool. In addition, there were three major echo fighters revealed.
During the same announcement as Simon, fellow Belmont family member Richter was revealed to be his echo fighter. Dark Samus was also revealed as the echo fighter as normal Samus and Chrom is finally coming to Smash Ultimate as an echo fighter of his daughter Lucina from Fire Emblem Awakening.
As of the Super Smash Bros Ultimate Nintendo Direct, we now know that a total of 103 stages will be featured in the game when it releases. It will mostly feature remakes of fan favorites from the past but will also include original stages like New Donk City Hall from last year’s Super Mario Odyssey for Nintendo Switch.
Depending on how you count the soundtrack, more than 900 tracks will be available in the game from the franchises represented in the game; including 34 tracks from the Castlevania series. This amounts to around 28 hours worth of music in its dedicated music player. The Super Smash Bros Ultimate Nintendo Direct also revealed that users can listen to the tracks while the Switch is in sleep mode like an MP3 player.
