Taiko: Drum Master Returns to the West With Taiko: Drum Session and Drum n’ Fun

Taiko: Drum Master will be making its long-awaited return to the West with not one but two new games in the rhythm series later this year. Bandai Namco announced Drum Session for PS4 and Drum ‘n’ Fun for Nintendo Switch. Both games are releasing on the same day in the Americas on November 2. This marks the first new games in the series to arrive here since the original console game Drum Master released in 2004 for PS2.

The series has enjoyed many games over the years but they have all been exclusive to Japan. Taiko: Drum Session and Drum ‘n’ Fun are rhythm-based music games that center around the Japanese drum. Each game will feature its own unique features, though, it isn’t certain if most songs will be shared between the two or if they will each have entirely different tracks.

Taiko no Tatsujin: Drum Session PS4 will appeal more to those players who enjoy the competitive aspects of games. It will have a ranked mode where players compete with others around the world to see who is the best of the best. Drum Session will feature costumes and other unlockables for series mascot Don-chan, and give players the chance to play alongside characters like Hatsune Miku and Hello Kitty.

Meanwhile, Taiko no Tatsujin: Drum ‘n’ Fun Switch will focus on the gameplay aspects. Players will be able to use the Joy-Con’s as the drumsticks for the game with motion controls. During Rhythm Mode, you will be able to use platform-exclusive characters like Kirby and the Squid from Splatoon 2. In addition, it will feature 20 multiplayer minigames that can be played with up to four players.

Both Taiko no Tatsujin: Drum Session PS4 and Drum ‘n’ Fun Switch will be releasing on November 2. While we wait for their releases, check out other upcoming Bandai Namco games like My Hero One’s Justice and Code Vein.
