Tales From the Borderlands is Finally Available to Buy Once More

Tales From the Borderlands, the episodic Borderlands title developed by Telltale Games, has been unavailable to buy for over a year since the studio’s bankruptcy and subsequent collapse. However, Gearbox has finally acquired the license, and the game is now available to buy from online stores once again.

The Return of Tales From the Borderlands

“The critically-acclaimed Tales From the Borderlands is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and – for the first time – the Epic Games Store,” writes Gearbox; “Tales From the Borderlands is also playable on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 via backwards compatibility.”

Originally, like many Telltale Games titles, Tales From the Borderlands had an episodic release schedule. Five episodes in total were launched between November 2014 and October 2015. These were available to purchase separately. The re-release of the game, however, is a simpler single package with all five episodes in one. The game itself was the first Borderlands game not to be developed by Gearbox, and won critical acclaim from start to finish. (Though its success wasn’t enough to save Telltale Games from bankruptcy in 2018.)

Tales From the Borderlands is Now Available

Tales From the Borderlands takes place between the events of Borderlands 2 and 3, featuring its own story and core cast of orginal characters. (Though the game is, of course, full of cameo appearances both minor and major, including Zer0, Moxxi, etc.) Indeed, some of the game’s original characters went on to appear in Borderlands 3.

If you already own one or more of the game’s episodes from before it was withdrawn from stores, this re-release will actually allow you to transfer your save files. Note that this only applies so long as you’re on the same platform. (Although Gearbox does support cross-generation save transfers, if you’ve made the move to next-gen.) You will have to buy the full game however – you won’t be able to purchase solely the episodes you’re missing.
