Creative Assembly has now published their latest studio update, detailing what the various teams of developers are currently busy working on. The update teases more preview content coming soon for Total War: Three Kingdoms, for example. However, one other thing it seems to tease is the widely-rumoured but unannounced Skaven DLC for Total War: Warhammer 2.
Subtle Teasing of the Rumoured Skaven DLC for Total War: Warhammer 2?
“It’s going to be a quiet few months from us in the Fantasy New Content Team,” reads the update; “while we scheme and plot beneath the surface. We vow to resurface soon, and then we do expect some cold-blooded and explosive content… but of course that’s after the release of the highly anticipated Three Kingdoms from our comrades in the Historical Team!”
The latest release for Total War: Warhammer 2 was the recent major Festag Update; a big game update which makes a variety of tweaks and changes, especially to Lords and Legendary Lords from the first game. However, since the release of the Curse of the Vampire Coast DLC, Creative Assembly have been teasing the next DLC; the first of 2019. The rumours among fans suggest that this DLC will focus on the Skaven and/or Lizardmen factions. This now seems very likely given the wording of this new update from the developers.
It does sound as though fans won’t hear much more for a while, however. Total War: Three Kingdoms is due to release on the 7th of March, a little over a month from now. It’s possible that the next DLC may be announced before the release date, but it seems more likely that Creative Assembly will want to keep their marketing focused on the upcoming release. As such, Warhammer fans will probably have to wait until at least March or later for any concrete announcements of new DLC for Total War: Warhammer 2.
