Yesterday, Creative Assembly released an announcement trailer for Eight Princes, the first full DLC for Total War: Three Kingdoms. In the wake of that announcement, the studio teased fans with a hint at what’s coming for Total War: Warhammer 2 DLC, from a new Legendary Lord to another Old World update for one of the factions from the first game.
What’s Coming Up for Total War: Warhammer 2 DLC
The last DLC to release for Total War: Warhammer 2 was The Prophet and the Warlock, which launched shortly before Total War: Three Kingdoms. After that release, Creative Assembly confirmed that there would be no more Race Pack DLCs coming for the game. However, they did state that there would be more DLC coming, including new Lord Packs. After yesterday’s Eight Princes announcement, a community manager told fans online that there wouldn’t be any Warhammer 2 content until at least September.
However, today, Creative Assembly released a teaser graphic hinting at what’s coming for Total War: Warhammer 2 DLC. Three upcoming releases were teased; a new “Legendary Lord,” another “Old World Update,” and finally, “Some Old Friends”. While the last entry is something of a mystery, the first two seem likely to be Free-LC releases. Creative Assembly has already done three Old World Updates for the Bretonnia, Dwarfs, and Vampire Counts, all of which were part of free updates. In all likelihood, the next update will be for either Empire or Greenskins, the two remaining core factions from the first game.

The new “Legendary Lord” is also likely to be Free-LC, as it is singular, not plural. Lord Pack DLCs always include a pair of new Legendary Lords, but single Lord releases have always been free in the past. The final entry is, of course, the most mysterious, and the most likely to be a paid DLC. Another Lord Pack is the most likely possibility, but it’s currently unclear what; “Some Old Friends,” might be referring to. Fans will have to stay alert for more news in September.
