Destiny 2’s new Dreaming City endgame region has proven to be quite popular with the game’s community, mainly thanks to the large number of mysteries and hidden surprises that lie buried in its borders. During a recent interview at this year’s Tokyo Game Show, Bungie shared a few additional details about the Dreaming City (along with other Destiny 2-related features) that spoil the air of mystery somewhat but also offer a glimpse into the studio’s long-term plans for the region.
Redditor ZOZOT3 shared a link to the interview which they conducted with Destiny 2 producer Scott Taylor. The interview itself is in Japanese, but ZOZOT3 was kind enough to provide a bulleted list in English of the main talking points they and Taylor covered. According to what Taylor himself said, the following is apparently true:
- Dreaming City region vendor Petra Venj will apparently change locations each week, and Bungie doesn’t plan on adding more fast travel points to the region. This means that players should enjoy Petra’s current location (which places her right next to the region’s fast travel spot) while they can.
- A Prestige version of the Last Wish raid is in the works, but Bungie doesn’t yet have a clear timetable for when it will be released.
- Apparently, one unlucky Bungie employee had to stay and watch the recent world’s first race for the Last Wish raid during its entire 24-hour duration since the switch to trigger all of the new content additions and changes caused by the raid’s completion had to be flipped manually.
- Bungie agrees with players who are unhappy over the new masterwork core-dependant infusion requirements and the severe scarcity of methods for obtaining new masterwork cores. A solution hasn’t been agreed on yet (the game’s economics team ultimately has the final say), but Taylor says that he thinks either the core acquisition rate should be increased or cores should simple be removed entirely from infusion requirements.
- Full details for this year’s Festival of the Lost Halloween-themed in-game event will be revealed at some point during the coming weeks.
- A private match feature is in the works for the Gambit game mode
- Taylor himself is spearheading Destiny content plans beyond the scope of the three Annual Pass mini-expansions, though he naturally could not say whether those plans involve more content for Destiny 2 or a potential Destiny 3.
Bungie itself will likely confirm much of what Taylor discussed in the interview in future blog posts and social media updates, but it’s always interesting to get a taste of what’s to come straight from an inside source.
