Publisher Bandai Namco has announced a special collector’s edition for the upcoming Dark Souls Trilogy release. Sadly, the collector’s edition doesn’t launch until a few months after the standard edition. Also, even if you don’t mind waiting, you can’t purchase the collector’s edition unless you live in the UK.
Dark Souls Trilogy Collector’s Edition Announcement
According to a press release from Bandai Namco, the Dark Souls Trilogy collector’s edition includes the following items. All text courtesy of Bandai Namco:
- The Dark Souls Trilogy, including Dark Soul Remastered, Dark Souls 2: Scholar of The First Sin, Dark Souls 3: The Fire Fades, plus all DLC content for all three games
- A high-quality, numbered, and hand-painted 34cm Elite Knight at the Bonfire statue
- The Dark Souls Trilogy soundtrack – featuring 6 soundtrack CDs with music from all three games
- And a 460-page Dark Souls Trilogy compendium containing illustrated maps with boss and NPC locations, item encyclopedia, bestiary of enemies and bosses, and a manuscript of all dialogue from each game reiterate.
Because of the extra time needed to hand-paint each statue, the collector’s edition release date is being delayed into May. While the standard edition of the Dark Souls Trilogy launches on March 1, the collector’s edition ships on May 31. There’s also only 2,000 collector’s edition copies available and they’re available for pre-order on a first-come-first-served basis. Sadly, we can’t link to the pre-order page since it doesn’t even show up for US-based users.
If you’re in the UK and want to pre-order the collector’s edition, just know it’ll cost you a cool £450. For comparison, that’s about $580 U.S., definitely nothing to sneeze at. Still, if the statue looks half as good as it does in the below screenshot (thanks DualShockers), it could be worth it.
That March 1 release date mentioned above pertains to the UK version of the Dark Souls Trilogy. If you’re in the U.S., you can buy the trilogy right now. Sadly, the trilogy’s collector’s edition isn’t available for PC. That means buyers will miss out on all the cool Dark Souls 3 modding content that’s out there.
