One of The Division 2’s more unusual easter eggs involves an old myth regarding animals in a city’s sewers. It turns out that, at least in The Division 2, there’s a certain amphibious reptile lurking in Washington D.C.’s underground. If you want to see the game’s hidden alligator easter egg for yourself, simply follow this guide.
The Division 2 Alligator Easter Egg Guide
To find the alligator, you’ll need to first unlock The Division 2’s mid-game West Potomac Park region. Once you’ve made it to West Potomac Park, look over towards the far southeastern end of the region’s boundaries. Specifically, you’re looking for a street called Jefferson Dr SW which branches off from 15th St SW.
Just to the north and south of Jefferson Dr SW are underground tunnel entrances. The entrances won’t be on your map by default but they should appear as you approach. The southern entrance is actually tucked inside the nearby café but they both lead to the same sewer tunnel.
Head down into the tunnel and look for a passageway that’s blocked by a series of metal bars. If you peer through the bars, you’ll spot what is clearly an alligator’s tail poking out from behind a corner.
Sadly, there’s no way to get a look at the full beast or trigger it to move in some fashion. You can try shooting the tail through the bars but all you’ll be doing is wasting bullets. Still, it’s a cool little surprise which contributes to the mystique of The Division 2’s world. It’s also a clear reference to the myth of what happens if you flush a baby alligator down the toilet.
