The Division 2: Ubisoft Outlines Post-Launch Year One Content Plans

At launch, The Division 2 will already be an expansive open-world game. The launch contents, however, are just the beginning. In a new trailer, Ubisoft has detailed The Division 2’s first year of post-launch content additions. Such additions include new story missions, new game modes, new endgame specializations, and more.

The Division 2 Post-Launch Content Plans

The first bits of post-launch DLC arrive shortly after The Division 2’s March 15 launch. A new ‘Tidal Basin’ enemy stronghold will go live alongside the previously teased Operation Dark Hours raid. The bulk of the sequel’s post-launch DLC, though, will slowly unfold via three separate “episodes” of content.

Ubisoft has confirmed the names and general release windows for each of the three content episodes. Episode-specific content additions haven’t yet been fully disclosed, but the episodes will have distinct themes. Here are the three episodes and their corresponding release windows:

  • DC Outskirts: Expeditions (summer, 2019) – A new game mode takes players into the outdoor regions surrounding Washington D.C. to battle elite enemies.
  • Pentagon: The Last Castle (autumn, 2019) – Players venture down into the bowels of the Pentagon to uncover its secrets.
  • The third episode doesn’t yet have a name or set theme but Ubisoft says it will launch in winter, 2019.

The Division 2 Year 1 roadmap

All of the new episode content will be free, but players can unlock early access with the Year 1 Pass. Purchasing the pass unlocks a number of benefits including seven days early access to new episode content. Year 1 Pass owners also get early access to the three new Year 1 endgame specializations. Much like the base game’s specializations, the three new additions will each come equipped with a unique weapon type. Additional Year 1 Pass perks include exclusive cosmetic items, classified assignments, bounty targets, and base projects.

Speaking of cosmetic items, this accompanying FAQ post also details The Division 2’s Apparel Store. Along with loot-box-esque Apparel Caches, players will be able to directly purchase any cosmetic item they want.
