The Division was a surprisingly lonely game given its online MMO-esque nature. However, such will not be the case with The Division 2 thanks to its in-depth clan system. Players will have the option of banding together into 50-person clans complete with XP-based progression and clan-specific social spaces.
The Division 2 Clan System
Ubisoft announced the inclusion of clans via this post on The Division 2’s website. According to Ubisoft, the ability to join and create clans will be unlocked early on in the game’s story campaign. If you want to create your own clan, you’ll need a minimum of four people (including yourself). Each clan will allow for a maximum capacity of 50 players total.
Joining a clan grants several unique benefits. Players can earn clan XP and progress through their clan’s unique progression system. Upping your clan rank unlocks exclusive clan vendors, projects, cosmetic customization rewards, and more. Clans will also support social features like 25-player voice chat channels and a text-based updates feed. Being in a clan also means you can access the clan-reserved White House social space.
When it comes to finding a clan to join you can modify your criteria as necessary. Clan leaders can stipulate whether their clan is PvE or PvP-focused, or a mixture of both. You can also sort clans by region, active time periods, clan atmosphere (relaxed vs. competitive), and more. You can also naturally decide if your clan is private, invite-only, or freely open to all.
Lastly, clans will utilize a hierarchal membership rank structure to determine which members have what administrative rights. The four designated clan membership ranks are as follows (text courtesy of Ubisoft):
- Commander – The leader of the clan which has access to all administrative functions of the clan.
- Lieutenant – The officer rank, which will be able to send out invites, review applications, promote and demote members as well as moderate the clan feed.
- Agent – The established clan member able to invite potential recruits to the clan.
- Recruit – The recruit is a new member of the clan with limited access to administrative clan functionality.
